The Rev. Dr. Katrina Foster is the sixth bishop of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the first woman and first lesbian to hold the role. Ordained in 1994, she served congregations in the Bronx, on the East End of Long Island and in Greenpoint. She helped lead the push to ordain gay and lesbian clergy in the Lutheran church and focuses on affordable housing.
