Ian L. Haddock founded The Normal Anomaly Initiative, a Houston nonprofit that began in 2016 as a storytelling blog and now works on community organizing, leadership development and HIV advocacy for Black LGBTQ+ people. His organization presents the annual Black Like That Community Festival, whose fifth edition took place in June 2026. He was named to Out magazine's 2025 Out100 list and has served on the Mayor's LGBTQ+ Advisory Board.
