The Fort Lauderdale Wreck Trek links three wrecks — the Jay Scutti tugboat, the Tracey, and the Merci Jesus — sitting between 68 and 72 feet just off Fort Lauderdale Beach. Current permitting, we’ll dive this as a single-tank drift from Jay Scutti north to Tracey and on to Merci Jesus, letting the group cover all three structures without a single fin kick against the current. It’s a favorite for club trips because the navigation is straightforward with rebar stakes marking the path between wrecks, and the depth keeps it accessible for open-water certified members without pushing into advanced territory.
For the reef half of the trip, Out Scuba typically pairs the Trek with a drift along Fort Lauderdale’s third reef line, running roughly 60-70 feet and rich with soft coral, sponge growth, and reliable turtle and ray sightings. Splitting a charter day between the Wreck Trek and a third reef drift gives members both the structure-heavy wreck experience and the natural reef scenery in one outing, which is exactly the kind of two-dive day the club builds its Fort Lauderdale trips around.

This is an unguided, self-directed dive. Out Scuba does not provide dive guide services, and no divemaster or guide will be leading you underwater. As stated in our waiver, each diver is solely responsible for planning and executing their own dive — this includes monitoring your own air, depth, time, and navigation, and staying within your certification level and training. You are required to dive with a buddy at all times and to remain responsible for your own safety and equipment throughout the activity. Please make sure you and your buddy have a clear dive plan before entering the water and understand each other’s dive signals.
