QueerCalendarA guided queer winter hike through the redwoods of Pescadero Valley with Branching Out Adventures and San Mateo County Parks. Learn about redwood ecology, look for mushrooms and banana slugs, and walk to the old-growth trees in the park's heritage grove.
The hike covers up to four miles with up to 500 feet of elevation gain on uneven, possibly muddy trails. There is little to no cell service in the park. Parking fees are waived for Branching Out participants.
Bring: a filled water bottle, comfortable hiking clothes and shoes, warm layers or rain gear, and be prepared for poison oak, ticks, and prickly plants.
All participants must be registered individually and have approved the online waiver. Please note that heavy rain will cancel this event; cancellations for extreme weather or poor air quality will be emailed no later than 5:00 PM two days before.
