Quietly Queer: Low-Key LGBTQ+ Socials

We started in August 2025, and we're a meetup for LGBTQ+ folks (and allies) who want to connect without the pressure of loud bars or big crowds. Whether you're introverted, selectively social, neurodivergent, or just enjoy deeper, slower-paced hangs, we’re creating space for meaningful community.

We’re looking for folks who want to see each other more than once, because real connections happen when we show up, again and again, in low-pressure ways. Quietly Queer is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with gatherings in the East Bay and San Francisco. Help us shape a queer-friendly space that values rest, play, and connection.

Our events range from:

* Bookstore strolls, cozy café chats, and board game nights
* Low-pressure mixers, art walks, going to museums, watching improv and poetry shows, and casual drink/speakeasy nights (we always ensure non-alcoholic options are available)
* Try-it-together fitness like hiking, roller skating, indoor rock climbing, yoga, or dancing
* Picnics and casual walks in different neighborhoods
* And more!

Community information & guidelines:

* The host speaks English and Spanish, and multilingual queer folks are welcome.
* We host folks of all ages; our attendees have ranged from 22-65+ years old.
* We have an array of events for all budgets from free to low-cost, to ticketed venues.
* Please update your RSVP if you cannot attend an event. It helps people on the waitlist.
* Some members have fragrance sensitivities. If you're able, please skip perfumes, colognes, and strongly scented lotions to help make our gatherings more accessible.

Your donations help keep QQ free. Just $2 helps cover Meetup Premium costs, which allows us to host more events a month, accommodate larger groups, and access additional features as our community grows. We are currently organizer-subsidized, and every event takes time to plan, communicate, and facilitate. We increase the fundraising goal by $50 each month rather than starting over from zero.
