Left Turn Village
Left Turn Village, LLC is a public health and social justice consulting firm founded in 2020 by Dr. Tyree Oredein. Guided by a core commitment to intersectionality, the organization recognizes how overlapping identities and systemic structures shape health outcomes and lived experiences. Left Turn Village specializes in designing and delivering transformative professional training, educational programs, and curriculum modules focused on health literacy, cultural competency, health equity, and social justice. Partnering with community organizations, educational institutions, and healthcare entities, Left Turn Village works to break down barriers to care, address systemic health disparities, and empower marginalized communities—including LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, people with disabilities, and religious minorities—through actionable, inclusive education.
A central initiative of Left Turn Village's advocacy work is Freedom Rhymers—an innovative platform that utilizes performance art, spoken word, and poetry as pedagogical tools for public health and social justice advocacy. Grounded in an intersectional lens, Freedom Rhymers creates empowering spaces to lift up, center, and honor the multi-layered voices of marginalized storytellers. Through its signature poetry contests, open mics, and showcase events, it addresses critical topics such as mental health, identity, and lived experience while fostering deep community connection and healing through art.
