The Tenderloin Museum's monthly LGBTQIA+ history walking tour, in partnership with Unspeakable Vice. The tour covers LGBTQIA+ history in the Tenderloin and Polk Street, including the Compton's Cafeteria Riot, a trans resistance action that predates Stonewall, the site of San Francisco's first Pride parade, and a police-raided drag ball defended by local clergy. It follows the street queens, hustlers and Christian ministers who worked together to establish the first Pride march.
About 2 hours, mostly on level city sidewalks, plus an optional drink afterward at the Cinch Saloon (1723 Polk St), with one free round per guest. Museum admission is included with your ticket. Pay what you can. Ages 21+. Tours reschedule in heavy rain and tickets transfer. Part two of a three-part series.
Check your ticket for the meeting point: the ticket page lists the Tenderloin Museum, while the museum's programs page lists the southwest corner of Geary and Powell.
