QueerCalendarThis second walking tour explores a different side of Cincinnati’s LGBTQ+ past, uncovering stories of nightlife, activism, and community that unfolded across downtown’s streets and hidden gathering places.
Beginning in the heart of the city, this 1.5–2 mile tour lasting approximately 90 minutes visits a new set of historic locations connected to queer life in Cincinnati during the 20th century and the decades surrounding the Stonewall uprising. Led by historian and author of Cincinnati Before Stonewall: The Untold Queer History of the Queen City, Jacob Hogue, participants will encounter the bars, clubs, and cultural spaces where LGBTQ+ Cincinnatians gathered, organized, and expressed themselves at a time when doing so often carried real risk.
Along the route, we’ll explore stories of underground nightlife, police raids, early activism, and the people who helped shape Cincinnati’s queer community during the city’s most transformative decades.
From hidden taverns and legendary dance floors to sites connected with the rise of modern LGBTQ+ advocacy, Tour #2 reveals how queer Cincinnatians created community, resilience, and visibility in the heart of the Queen City.
