Holiday Passport
Atlanta Freedom Bands’ 34th season begins with a globe-trotting holiday tour! Artistic Director O’Shae Best takes you on a journey through music and traditions from cultures around the globe. In one whirlwind evening, we will celebrate Solstice, Hannukah, Christmas, Oshogatsu (Japanese New Year), the Lunar New Year, and more! We may even have a visit from the Krampus, but there is still time for you to get on the “nice” list!
The fabulous, award-winning TAYLOR ALXNDR will be your host and tour guide for all the musical stops we have planned. A co-founder of Southern Fried Queer Pride, TAYLOR is an underground drag drag icon and queer artist making a big splash in Atlanta and beyond. They may have been raised in the country outskirts of bustling ATL, but has been making waves and turning heads in the big city since 2011. They are the Mother of the House of ALXNDR, an Atlanta-based drag family and events hub that creates drag-centered, inclusive spaces for marginalized folks to build community.
The concert will include the first work of this year’s Student Composer Residency Program. We will welcome Georgia State student Ahmad Duncan to the program with his contemplative work “Stargazer”, the perfect accompaniment or taking in the wonders of the cosmos on a clear winter’s night.
