***IT MUST BE SAID: Prompts are not Black/lesbian-specific, but this will be a gatekept space, so please do not show up if these labels don’t apply to you. We (Black people) make up 6-7% of Austin’s population (the smallest of any major racial group), and We (lesbians/sapphics) make up a small percentage of the population of women and queer people overall. So if you enjoy the idea of a journal club, thanks, but you’ll find community elsewhere (probably easier than it is for us) and will not be allowed to take up space here. For those who are Black lesbians and are thinking of bringing a guest that is not, ask yourself why. This is a great space to make new friends, and it’s totally okay and normal to come alone! And of course, no bigotry will be tolerated, including but not limited to: colorism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, classism, misogyny, zionism, fatphobia, whorephobia, islamophobia***
